About Me

My name is Dana Bell. My professional background includes decades of experience in the graphic arts field, 20 years working with computers, some formal training with computers and continued involvement in the functions of business.

I have particular interest in business accounting, inventory control, scheduling, project management, and anything related to computers or graphic arts. If you would really like to know more about my training or past employment, you can browse through my slightly out-of-date resume. That does not include any work done in DBS; that will be showcased on the site as time permits. I also maintain several blogs that may interest you. One of them is on Tyler Web Sites.

Most of the knowledge I've gained has been outside of the classroom, though some of it has been backed up by certifications. I've never taken graphic design courses, although I am an Adobe Certified Expert in Adobe Photoshop CS, and Adobe InDesign CS. In the Internet arena, I am a Macromedia Certified Dreamweaver Developer. percentage of web designers that are. My web expertise is not limited to Dreamweaver, but includes hand-coding as well as utilization of open-source applications.

From BASIC to C and VBA, I've been writing utility software since the late eighties. In the nineties, I went from being a bulletin board system operator (SysOp) to writing SwiftBBS, my own BBS software and utilities. As a part of the bulletin board network, FamilyNet, I later developed Echobase, a software package that's been used and distributed in the United States as well as Europe. Since then I've developed numerous databases, worked with web pages, at the front and back end of databases like tylerwebsites.com, and installed a variety of open source applications. I am familiar with commercial and open-source applications in many areas.
