Graphic Arts
With DBS I am offering a variety of services to businesses and the graphic arts industry itself.
Graphic Arts involves both the design of printed and electronic media, as well as the actual print production and involves integration of computer technology.
From print production, graphic design and web design to print management. From setting up price structure, managing PrintSmith, to printing, bindery and equipment maintenance, there is no area in which I am better qualified than in graphic arts.
If you can't get your printing to look good even though your copy preparation looks good, it could be because you aren't providing material in a form that is best suited to their process. ... It could be due to limitations in the process, limitations that you may be able to work around in the preparation of your material. This is particularly true with "quick" printing, and especially franchise operations. Most owners of quick printing shops have little knowledge of the full spectrum of graphic reproduction. As a result they are often ignorant of their own limitations and will very often put the full blame on the customer providing the copy.
Computer Integration: If you've discovered that integrating computer operations with printing and publishing is not always a seamless process then I may be able to help. With decades of experience in all kinds of printing establishments and processes and working with microcomputers, I've learned
Coordination: To match that, there is a tremendous waste of time and resources because clients and printers do not share their data electronically. If you want to know how to work with your commercial printer, or maybe look at some options in integrating resources, let me know. I can also help coordinate with web publishing.
Printing processes: One of the biggest misconceptions about current copy preparation that all processes are basically the same. That's not true. Within sheet-fed offset processes, there is a wide range of processes and grades of quality. Knowing the limitations of each process, you can avoid and often work around problems in reproduction.
Printing projects:
For the Graphic Arts Industry: With decades of printing experience, I've repeatedly drawn from my experience in solving the technical and managerial problems. I've operated all kinds of printing equipment, and modifications. I understand how printing equipment works and can usually trace problems down systematically. I understand how the business works and can help identify problem areas.
